A Day So Good, You Want To Feel It, Not Just Remember It

I suck at a lot of things, but I'm really glad that I don't suck at riding pow. I love those days at Powder Mountain Catskiing and Heliskiing in Whistler when the snow is so insane, the crew is so awesome, the sun is out and the day is so damn good that you actually let and want yourself to get sunburnt so that for the next five days or so, you don't just remember the day, you can still feel it. The Camp of Champions is like that too I guess, Maybe that's why campers and me get burnt so often every summer. My Pro Standard worked awesome as well.

Caprii "Want's to be a snowboarder"

I've never pushed my girls one way or another on how they enjoy winter but I have to admit I was really stoked when Caprii woke up yesterday morning and said "I want to be a snowboarder". So the Ken Achenbach lesson tradition of taking you to the top of the lift, and saying "Point your hand where you want to go, don't worry, you'll figure it out by the bottom" and "If it feels right and you're having fun, you're doing it right" continues on. Magic Carpet lift was closed but Caprii said "That's for babies" so down the Magic Chair we went. First run 30 falls. Kaia teaching her the finer points of learning to snowboard that my pointers somehow missed. By the third run she made it down with about 4 falls. So stoked. Thanks Burton Snowboards and Jg Gerndt for making such awesome kids products that make learning to snowboard so easy, so fun and so painless, no matter how lazy my lesson was. Next time she'll be in the Don Smith advanced class - Put cookies in your pocket for lunch and when they aren't reduced to dust by the time you want to eat them, you know you are getting better. Caprii's fire is lit, she wanted to skip school and go snowboarding today. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. She will be running the Camp of Champions in no time with her sister.

Pro Standard Grill Mount Promo Shoot with Freesurf Magazine in Hawaii

Had such a fun time in Hawaii with Sean Reilly and Keoni Watson testing the latest generation of 3D printed Grill Mount prototypes. Thanks to Darrick and Tiger Doerner at DDSEA for the accommodations. I've just finished sorting all the shots from the #grillmount promo shoot with Freesurf Magazine. We shot mostly on the North Shore and a few other spots. We thought the weather and waves were going to be not so great but we hit a great little sun and swell window and got what we needed.

Grill Mounts... Fresh from the oven

The latest generation of Pro Standard Grill Mounts for hands free shooting with your GoPro when you surf and bodyboard, are fresh out of the oven at Camosun Applied Research and the 3D prints are perfect. So stoked. Now it's off to Hawaii tomorrow to test them one final time before we commit to cutting metal. Game on.

Fun fact about friends. They invite you to do fun things like demo a Tesla P85. A "thing" that is really, really, fun. I asked my friend Jon who was in charge of the demo, how many people get in and the the first thing they do is put the hammer down...  "All of them he replied."  So I put the hammer down. I'd be in jail in a week if I owned this car. My record time to Squamish would be a lot lower than it is now.
Thanks Tesla. A car so nice it almost makes me want to work...

Happy Birthday Bob

The snow was flying sideways for part of the day but we were having a blast celebrating Bob Smith's 51st birthday at Powder Mountain Catskiing in Whistler.  Using the Pro Standard Pole and the Grill Mount was fun, got some good shred photos too.

Grill Mount and Curved Mount Powder Testing

Snow Testing the Grill Mount
I went up Whistler Blackcomb yesterday with Bob Smith to ride some powder and do more cold weather testing with the Grill Mount and The 360 Quick Connect Curved Mount. We figured we'd ride the Blackcomb Glacier so we could see how the snow is piling up for The Camp of Champions this summer.
It was sunny and cold so it was perfect for riding pow even if the tips of our noses got a little cold being exposed while riding the chair. Good day all in all. Can argue with two good Saudan Couloir runs. Yeah... I know it the Couloir Extreme now, I just can't say the word "Extreme"
